Posted - February 20 2005 : 9:59:08 PM I think we just missed each other....literally. Once I get an enclosed trailer, I am hoping to make it up north to a few shows. As for being in with the motorcycles, since I got there a little late, I was one of the first rigs in the other room. It sort of sucked because the lighting was not as good and not as many people filtered through the room. But, I was happy with the results. I can post some pictures once I figure out how to. |

Posted - February 20 2005 : 8:46:22 PM Sorry we never got to meet up at the show. I stopped by the Sy a bunch of times. Wish they would have put you over in the other section where was some room.
The Sy looked sweet though. I took a bunch of pictures. Hopefully we can meet up some time in the future. Wish you were bringing the Sy up to the Seattle Hot Rod Show in 2 weeks.

Posted - February 11 2005 : 07:02:57 AM I am still working out the transportaion logistics, but, I should be there between 4:30 and 6:00 Thursday night for set-up. I hope the Expo Center show is a good one. The Convention Center show is a little bigger and would have been a better show to enter. Maybe next year. I appreciate the help and feedback. See you there. |

Posted - February 10 2005 : 09:27:38 AM Talked to my friend about how to display your Marlboro. He has 25 years experience showing cars.
He said you need to have everything open you want them to see for judging. Once your Display has a sticker on it, you can shut the doors and hood if you want. He said it is best to show it all. Make sure to have a carpet under it. He said that makes it look so much better. We'll have to meet up and look at your setup when we get down there.

Posted - January 26 2005 : 08:27:53 AM I'll ask my friend. He has been doing car shows for 20 years so he should have some pointers. I'll let you know what he says. |

Posted - January 21 2005 : 9:18:23 PM I will definitely try to find you. It should not be too hard to find the Porsche. I might need some pointers how to best set up the truck for display (hood open, doors, etc.). Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. |

Posted - January 21 2005 : 10:59:13 AM I am definitely coming to the Portland show to help my friend set up his Porsche. So hopefully we will run into each other at the show. |

Posted - January 08 2005 : 09:51:19 AM We will keep you posted.....the more rigs the better. It seems the "serious" car guys I know still do not know anything/much about sy's or ty's, let alone a pace truck/Marlboro. I have even thought about having some of the main sy/ty web addresses listed for poeple to explore. I doubt sy's/ty's will ever be as sought after as the late 60's muscle cars, but we can help create a future larger market than current...if we want to. While it would be cool to have our rigs go up in value based on demand, there may be some that will never take care of them the way we do. |

Posted - January 06 2005 : 8:10:57 PM You need to seriously enter!!!! The fee is $50. But, with that, you get some small gift package and three full day passes for two people. All this is a value of $100- $150. Not too bad. And, the sy/ty gang gets some exposure. Nothing to lose and much to gain, eh? But, you need to send in a few pictures and your entry form by mid January. Keep me posted if you enter. We will have to get spots next to each other. This would be a cool event!! |

Posted - January 06 2005 : 5:51:00 PM I might enter as well, I plan on attending as many shows as possible to get these trucks some exposure. I cant believe how many people have no clue what it is. |

Posted - January 05 2005 : 10:31:47 AM Yah I have a lot of modes done to mine. 20g turbo, Atr IC, Atr Aux IC, 3" SS Cat and Exhuast, I just got done adding WB02, Autoprom (from Moates) some guages and finishing up my Alky Injection install.
Currently my Typhoon is down due to an ignition problem. I am getting no spark but all the wires look good. Took the Dist out to replace the ignition module in and looke like it is all toast. But haven't got much farther than that.
After I get it running agian, I am going to put in an eDist system (Crank Trigger, Cam Sync, LS1 Coils, etc.) to go to coil per cylinder and get rid of the Distributor. I have always had ignition problems with this Typhoon and hopefully this will get the bugs worked out.
Here are some pictures of my Typhoon and mods if you want to check them out.

Posted - January 03 2005 : 9:50:21 PM Paul,
Keep me posted when you come down this way...or to the show. It would be great to hook up with some NWST guys! Do you have a lot of mods done to your rig? |

Posted - January 03 2005 : 08:03:37 AM I always wanted a Marlboro too. Very cool you got the 273 mile one that is stock. I hope to make that show in Portland since a friend of mine is entering his 2004 Porsche Carrera 4S in it. I might come down and help him set up. |

Posted - December 31 2004 : 08:32:57 AM This is the website for general information, potential entries, and to look at past winning cars:
http://www.hotrodshows.com/shows.ihtml?showID=2&hotelid=3&show=Portland
In the past, I think it cost $10 or so to get in. But, this is arguably the best local show of the year. As you can see by the pictures, there are some pretty amazing rigs! The Marlboro would have to enter in the stock category and placed in the subcategory of limited production and special interest vehicle. I would have zero chance of winning the stock category. But, so far everyone who has seen my truck wonders what it is. This will most likely be the same at the Portland show. I just want people to learn about sy's and ty's to increase the interest in our rigs. This might not work. But, we need more awareness in the NW (it seems a great majority of sy/ty'ers live along the east coast). Anytime anyone on this board will be out near Oregon City, send me an e-mail and stop on bye. Here is an album of all Marlboro's:

Posted - December 31 2004 : 12:31:13 AM Cool, I need to see that truck sometime. What are the details on the Portland Roadster show? Maybe I should swing by just to increase our presence? |
sbted95 |
Posted - December 30 2004 : 8:55:10 PM I bought it last October with the help of Marty (Marlborosyclone on the syty site). It took a while for the shipping process. I finally got the truck a few weeks ago. I have wanted a Marlboro for quite some time! I had two sy's, sold them both and still had to take out a loan to get it (I was sworn to never disclose the purchase amount). The truck is the lowest mileage Marlboro (273 miles) in the world and the olny bone stock truck. I wanted to get it (1) because this is my "dream" vehicle and (2) I wanted the NW to have a Marlboro (believe it or not :) ). So more people gain awareness of Sy's and Ty's, I will be entering the truck into the Portland Roadster show next February 18th-20th. I will not win anything but hope more people will recognize how cool these rigs are! Sorry for writing a novel. I am just glad to be a part of the NW group! |
